  Great experience for those that want something more educational than just renting a kimono as most tourists do. In the very beginning I highlighted that I am not interested in buying a kimono myself; I just wanted to learn more about it and try it on, and it was totally fine with Shogo. I attended the lesson with my girlfriend, who had a lesson with Shogo's wife Harumi in parallel. We spent a great time learning the basics of kimono wearing and folding. Shogo shared a couple of interesting historical facts and explanations about kimono. Both Shogo and Harumi are totally fluent in English so communication was flawless.

  An awesome experience. The passion made learning feel genuine and inspiring. Being able to see and purchase after, was priceless while feeling no pressure to buy anything I didn’t need or want! Came out of this experience more knowledgeable and with a beautiful new haori to go with the kimono I already have!

  Very interesting and educational lesson. Exchanging with Shogo is also very nice and fluid ; his explanations and examples are very clear and accurate which is very helpful to learn in a good and fast way. His advices in buying kimono are also very helpful and adapted to each person and budget. He took also good care of my spectator friend, which is very gentleman from him. I highly recommend this lesson if you are interested in learning japanese traditional way of wearing kimono, as this is a true piece of japanese culture.

  This activity is a great time. Shogo was just as great and knowledgeable as he appears on his YouTube channel “Let’s Ask Shogo”. The store owner was great also. They were both really friendly and helpful in choosing the correct size and color for each piece of our kimono set. I highly recommend this tour and the shop.

  Amazing experience. He's a great teacher on YouTube, and an even better one in person. Would highly recommend. Shop and classroom was easy to find, and air conditioned. Lesson consisted of proper procedure for donning a juban, kimono, obi, hakama, and haori, as well as how to fold and pack it all away. He's very knowledgeable with the historical context and tips for keeping yourself looking presentable. The guided shopping is invaluable and surprisingly affordable. Originally I was not planning on buying a kimono afterwards, but I'm glad I ended up buying a nice yukata and accessories with him. Most of those ~¥2,000 shops have a terrible selection (especially for men) or are of questionable quality. Saved so much time and hassle.

  Absolutely wonderful experience. Shogo is so patient, tailoring every experience to your needs, and is the most caring host you could possibly imagine, at a very reasonable rate. I am a budoka and studying Japanese history, so we spent a while discussing the Japanese sengoku-jidai (civil war period) while improving my (very messy) hakama-folding technique. The shop downstairs is a specialist mens' kimono store, and offers a wide range of kimono and yukata, including denim types which can easily be machine-washed, unlike traditional silk types which require specialist treatment. I could not have asked for a better day in Kyoto, and it was more than worth coming to the city just for this experience. Thank you so much!

  Trying on traditional Japanese kimono as a foreigner can seem daunting but Shogo out any of those fears to rest as he led our experience with confidence and had answers to every one of our questions.   I learned so much about Kimono and now I can wear one by myself. Yay! Shogo the host has so much knowledge and patience and made the experience even more fun. Also the shop had so many cool Kimono to look through.

  Shogo was incredibly fun and helpful throughout this experience, he skillfully taught us step by step to put on our Kimonos ourselves and taught us historical facts about the traditional clothing and then showed us how to fold the kimonos up neatly for storage. He even had his wife come along to dress up my wife and friend in women's kimonos. And then after the experience he even helped me pick out my own kimono to buy. It was a wonderful experience full of laughs and joy and I couldn't recommend it more.
