Each year these magnificent creatures migrate south from Alaska, and although you can see them throughout Hawaii, the ‘Au ‘au channel off the coast of Maui boasts the greatest number. Our warm, relatively shallow and protected waters make an ideal location for the humpbacks to mate and give birth to their calves. These whales are often seen fully breaching out of the ocean!

Wonderful crew, clean boat and lovely snacks/drinks. We enjoyed beginning our morning on the boat looking for whales and we did! Captain was very patient and finally found some pods.

Great experience! I saw many whales.You will be able to sit in front of the sail boat, and whales are everywhere.

Morning Sail With the Whales Ma'alaea Would definitely book with Sail Maui again. Small, intimate vessel with only 25 guests allowed. Great line of sight and easy to move around the boat. Good crew, who got us safely and ethically close to numerous whales. Best moment was when we were floating with engines off. A mother, calf and escort group approached us, swam beneath our boat and spent a lot of time close to us. (Crew was unable to actually use the sails today, as the day was unusually calm.)

although it is May and most of the whales were gone, the crew took us out where we were able to see a mom and calf and they entertained us. Awesome experience🤗

Incredible trip. Saw tons of whales. Unforgettable experience. Ride was as smooth as could be and boat was excellent. Great service and the team, Patrick, Jeff, etc., were first class. Jeff has great knowledge of whales rich with history of Lahaina and the craters.

Always our favorite part about our trip to Maui. Sail Maui has the best crew. We're always impressed with their service and food options. Certainly a must do on your vacation.

Best sail you can do on West Maui. Dan, Jeff, and Patrick are an amazing crew and the fact that you actually get to sail is amazing. 10 out of 10 would recommend

Awesome and professional crew. We did the sunset cruise with beverages and snacks provided w meat and veggie options. Crew was attentive and safety minded as well as fun. Great whale action in late February. Temperature checks before boarding. Ship was clean w sanitizer readily available and food individually portioned. Definite recommendation for first timers or repeat every year as we do!

We had a great time whale watching this morning. The entire staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Their catamaran was very clean and probably one of the best ones out of Lahaina Harbor. Highly recommend booking them for your Maui excursions.

Visiting Maui for the first time and chose this tour . A Great time with a Great Captain and Crew . Weather was Beautiful and there were Whales from the beginning to the end!!!! Would highly recommend thus time of year for whale watching and using this company.
