Frauenkirche
Where a Romanesque chapel once stood now rises the nearly 100-meter-tall Gothic Frauenkirche – Munich’s most iconic church. We’ll also take time to step inside and explore its impressive interior.
The Renaissance church is not dedicated to the Archangel Michael by coincidence. It tells a rich story about the Reformation, the salt trade, and the Wittelsbach rulers of Bavaria.

An extremely interesting tour led by a very knowledgeable guide. At the end of our week in Munich, I was afraid this tour might cover the buildings in Old Town that we had already seen -- it did not. We saw the exteriors and interiors of a number of churches taking us from Roman times to Art Nouveau, with explanations, context and stories. Included were photos of the damage from WWII and info about how the churches were rebuilt. We ended with a bridge and a modern museum. Philipp's enthusiasm for and knowledge of his topic were much appreciated. We really enjoyed this tour!

Philipp was an excellent tour guide and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. Before attending, we were concerned that the historical buildings of Munich would be very limited due to the destruction of WW II. Instead, we were delighted to see both the inside and outside of surviving buildings from the last five hundred years! Philipp was very knowledgeable and engaging. He answered all our questions with deep knowledge and understanding. A very enjoyable tour... well worth taking!

I found Philipp’s tour exceptionally curated and insightful. His passion brought Munich’s architectural evolution to life, from Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque to modern. We crossed the Isar River on an Art Nouveau bridge, explored hidden gems, and enjoyed great views—making it both super interesting and fun. Philipp’s clear, engaging style makes it perfect for all, whether you're an architecture enthusiast or just curious. Highly recommended!
