Leandra was very knowledgeable and found us some fantastic food spots in Kyoto. Her food selections ranged from vegetables to seafood to wagyu steak. Drinks were plentiful, especially Sake!

I am so glad we booked this! We tend not to do tours when traveling, but we took a chance this time. We wanted to get the best out of the market, and Chikako our guide truly delivered! She was so knowledgeable and ready to answer any and all of our questions. Everything we tried was delicious, and when there were samples that were outside of our comfort zone, there was not an intense pressure to try them. However, with the guidance and information from Chikako, I felt excited to eat each dish. It felt good to take in all of the history, geography, anthropology, biology, economics and so much more of the foods that make up Kyoto and Japanese culture. What a delicious tour not only for the taste buds but for the mind and spirit. I went back to some of the stalls we visited to buy ingredients and snacks for later. I gained a deeper understanding of the food of Japan for the rest of my trip and beyond. Thank you so much Chikako and Ninja Food tours!!!

Chikako was an insightful, warm and hospitable guide who gave us a genuine local perspective during the 3-hour Nishiki Market lunch tour. We visited small specialty shops and tasted, among other things, excellent furikake. Her English was excellent, and to our surprise she even spoke some German from her years guiding Japanese travelers abroad. A relaxed and enjoyable small-group experience.

Leandra did such a great job taking us to all the local spots and explaining everything! She was so knowledgeable about the food and hurry of the market. Can’t recommend her enough!

Excellent tour with Taishi to the Nishiki Market. He had us eat foods that were Kyoto based. We had such good food and good portions. I highly recommend the tour!

We thoroughly enjoyed our food tour of the market. Mana told us about the history of the market and of the food. We had a good variety of foods. The group was small so it was easy to stay together in the busy market and also hear about the various foods and stalls. It was good value for the money.

I couldn't imagine a better way to experience the market than being guided from delicious stop to delicious stop by Leandra's expertise. Everything we tried was delicious, from the out of the ordinary stuffed octopus to the simple but sophisticated rice cracker. Leandra answered all our questions, provided us with great tips for the market and beyond, and made us feel perfectly at home. I would one million percent sign up for her Sweets Tour of Kyoto - make it happen!

Absolutely and amazing tour through Nishiki Market. Saw the Somebody Feed Phil episode that talk about it and booked it. Well worth the time and money. So informative and seriously tasty foods!!! So much fun! Highly recommend! Ten Stars!!
