On this tour, you will explore two national scenic areas in Central and South Taiwan and be inspired by the natural and cultural treasures that Sun Moon Lake and Alishan have to offer: the enchanting alpine lake, the majestic temples, the thousand-year-old sacred trees, the iconic forest railway, etc. Additionally, you will visit the South Branch of the National Palace Museum and discover the emperors' treasures, including the exquisite paintings, the ancient bronzes, the masterpieces of Chinese artifacts, and many more.

Standard hotel rooms in Taiwan contain either two single/twin beds or a double bed fit for two people. Twin-Share Accommodation is for two people per standard room (traveling parties are booked in the same room); Private Accommodation is for one person in a standard room.
For traveling parties with an odd number of individuals, either three people will be placed in a triple room or one person will be placed in private single room (at an additional cost), depending on availability

Sun Moon Lake
Meet your tour guide and driver at the hotel lobby, and then head for the heart of the island, Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the ever-changing scenery through the window during the 3-hour ride. Before reaching Sun Moon Lake, you will stop by Puli for a lunch break (at your own expense). Puli is blessed with pure and clean water, the high quality of water helps to develop a successful wine production business locally. You will visit Puli Winery before lunch. You will then depart for Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area. Sun Moon Lake is the biggest natural lake in Taiwan. The lake is divided by Lalu Island; the east side of the lake resembles the sun while the west side resembles the crescent moon, hence the name. The area around the lake is also the home to the Thao people, a group of Taiwan indigenous peoples. With a rich indigenous culture and abundant natural beauty, Sun Moon Lake has become one of the top-ranked destinations in Taiwan.
Yidashao Pier
Yidashao(Ita Thao), was named Te Hua village after the restoration of Taiwan. It has become the most populous area around the Sun Moon Lake. There are stores, restaurants, and hotels in the village. Also the thao people establishes the "Thao Cultural Village" for tourists to appreciate the traditional culture, songs, and dancing of the Thao Tribe.
Xuanzhuang Temple
Monk Xuanzang was the Holy Monk in the Tang dynasty. In 1965, the Monk Xuanzang's remains were moved to the Xuanzang Temple after the temple was rebuilt. There is a bell in front of the main gate,called "wake up bell." If you prefer quiet atmosphere, Xuanzang temple is the best places for you.
Ci'en Pagoda
Ci-en Pagoda was built by Chiang Kai-Shek in memory of his mother in 1971. The Ci-en Pagoda is 46 meters in height and has become the famous landmark of Sun Moon Lake. Surrounding the tower are beautiful plants and trees and there are stone tables and chairs for visitors to take a rest.
Xiangshan Visitor Center
The Xiangshang Visitor Center is both for tourism and administration use. The uniquely designed building has wood-patterned exteriors and wings that stretch like human arms embracing the earth. In addition, the two giant canopy structures, 34 meters long and 8 meters tall each, allow people to enjoy beautiful views of the Sun Moon Lake from the top. For the first night of your 3-day tour, you can enjoy a charming stay in a 5-star resort hotel.

Alishan National Forest Recreation Area
After breakfast, you will head for Alishan National Forest Recreation Area, a mountainous area famous for the unique forest railway, high altitude tea plantations, a number of forest trails, etc. Alishan National Forest Recreation Area is located in Chiayi County, covering an area of 1,400 hectares, which is the most well-known tourist destination in south Taiwan. Since you are in Alishan, of course you will not miss the opportunity to experience the forest train ride along a branch line of Alishan Forest Railway (Shemmu Line or Zhaoping Line), enjoying the ever changing scenery along the way. Besides the forest railway, you will explore the popular attractions such as Sisters Ponds, Shouzen Temple, and the sacred trees, relishing a nature therapy in the misty and dreamy forest. Later in the afternoon, you will take a ride down the mountain watching the sun goes down on the way.
Alishan Shenmu Area
This Formosan red cypress is the tallest and oldest of the trees on the Giant Tree Plank Trail. It has a girth of 13.1 meters and is 43.5 meters tall; it is estimated to be around 2000 years old. The tree also hosts Rhododendron kawakamii, the fern Oleandra wallichii (Hook.) Presl and other plants native to Taiwan.
Shouzhen Temple
Shouzen Temple is the largest temple in the Alishan area, restored in 1969. The main gods worshiped here are the Syuantian Emperor, the Fude God and the Jhusheng Goddess. After dinner (at your own expense), you can enjoy a good night sleep in a downtown 5-star hotel.

Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum
After breakfast, you will visit the South Branch of the National Palace Museum, the last stop of your 3-day tour in Sun Moon Lake and Alishan. The south branch was established in order to achieve a balance of cultural resources between the north and the south of Taiwan. Surround by man-made lakes, the South Branch of the National Palace Museum is located in a quiet and secluded area, about 30-min drive away from the downtown. It is a peaceful place to house the treasures of Chinese emperors, where the visitors can take their time and appreciate beauty of the art crafts. After lunch, you will head back to Taipei and arrive at the hotel later in the afternoon. You can take a nap during the 3.5-hour ride, and you will visit some rest stops before reaching Taipei.

5.00It was a very nice easy trip for us. Our tour guy and driver were very tentative to our needs and whole trip was great. We also got a chance to visit the national museum in Chiayi which was awesome. We had great fun.

4.00I booked a private tour for myself, elderly mom and sister as my mom wanted to visit Alishan and I read how complicated it can be to get there by public transit. Very glad we booked the tour as getting there and Sun Moon lake involves two to three hour car rides and twisty roads. Communication with booking and payment was good and all in English correspondence. We had a nice van picking us up with all our luggage from Taipei and had a few rest stops along the way. Just FYI outside of taipei the toilet system is not modernized so bring your own toilet paper and sanitizers. It was hit or miss on those being available depending where we were. Our tour guide Liya was super friendly and spoke good English. Our driver Adam also handled the luggage and windy roads well but I got a bit of motion sickness in Alishan because of the elevation climb. We stayed in 5 star hotels. The Lalu in sun moon was great. The nice prince hotel after alishan was ok but I'm sure for the area it's considered the best. There are no sidewalks in Chiayi so we ate nearby at the mall next door for dinner. The tour itself was well organized and paced in terms of spending enough time at all the highlights and not feeling rushed at all by the guide. Alishan felt like walking in a fairy tale forest with the lush greenery and tall trees and fog. I've traveled a lot though and have seen plenty of spectacular landscapes like Banff, Patagonia, Iceland and norway. So for me this was a nice side trip but not as beautiful as other places I've been. Overall we had a good time w the tour and felt it was worth what we paid given the logistics and comfort to get around. In alishan I can't imagine if we went on our own w luggage given how hilly and how the locals don't speak much English (I'm Chinese american) we also really enjoyed the national museum in the south which was the last stop on the trip. Much better than the north one in terms of modern and having English translations. So if you're looking for an easy and comfortable private tour to sun moon and alishan and the national palace south museum yes I recommend this tour! We paid cash tip at the end (they give guidance) and felt it was a nice change from taipei. Everything went on schedule. However there are hotels in taipei where you can leave luggage for a few days if you plan to return to it after. We didn't know this but it was OK.

5.00Recently, I went on an amazing trip. Thanks to my guide, Mr. Golden Mao, and my driver, Mr. Huang, the journey became truly special. First, Mr. Golden Mao was incredibly knowledgeable and guided me to places rich in history and culture. His explanations were clear and fascinating. He kindly answered all my questions and satisfied my curiosity. His bright and warm personality doubled the enjoyment of the trip. Mr. Huang, the driver, was also a wonderful professional. Even on long journeys, he safely transported me to my destinations, and his driving skills were truly impressive. The interior of the car was always comfortable, thanks to his attentive care. Sun Moon Lake and Alishan were, of course, marvelous, but the highlight of the trip was being treated to various teas at a local tea farm and being able to purchase expensive teas at reasonable prices. All of these became unforgettable memories. Overall, this trip far exceeded my expectations. I am grateful for the teamwork of Mr. Golden Mao and Mr. Huang. Thanks to them, this journey became one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. I highly recommend this trip to everyone.

3.00Our guide, Daniel, was outstanding, as was our driver, Mr. Wang. The itinerary was perfect for us. The sequencing was quite good and I am glad we booked this tour. The major drawback was the second hotel, which was a 2 star to perhaps a 3 star hotel masquerading as a 5 star hotel. The hotel we stayed at in Jiayi was nowhere near a proper 5 star hotel, in terms of service, interior design, furnishings, bathroom amenities, breakfast service or anything else. In fact, the hotel was overrun while we were there by a large group of junior high school or high school students, which compromised the whole experience. We were expecting something much more mature and much more sophisticated. So, we were extremely unhappy with the second hotel, which ultimately made the whole tour experience feel somewhat compromised and very, very overpriced for what it was. Having said that though, both our driver and our guide were top caliber and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them again. Given the disappointment and dissatisfaction we felt with the second hotel, I would be reluctant to recommend this tour at this price point. It is worth noting that we paid a two tier supplemental premium to stay at five star hotels.

5.00Everyone across three generations had a great time on the tour. Our guide, Jessie, and our driver did an amazing job. Jessie was always looking for ways to enhance the experience and was able to customize the trip to fit our extended family. We had some extra time on the last day and they were able to accommodate some special requests which made the trip extra special. The sites were amazing and the accommodations were great. We also really enjoyed the local cuisine along the way. Jessie and our driver went above and beyond!

He went out of his way by making a dinner reservation for us at a local authentic restaurant for us to celebrate our friend’s birthday and even arranged to have a birthday cake from 85• for the occasion! 5.00On our long overdue family holiday to Taiwan we wanted to visit two picturesque areas on the western side of the country. We booked a three day private tour by Edison Tours and were delighted by our holiday. Sun Moon Lake and Alishan were even more stunning than we hoped - such a beautiful part of the country. We were looked after by Albert, our guide and Mr Wu, our driver. Albert gave us plenty of information on the culture and history of each area and heaps of suggestions on other places to visit while we were in Taiwan. His knowledge and passion added another level to our experience. Albert was sensitive to our needs and adapted our tour to suit. Mr Wu was very competent in negotiating the traffic, highways and mountainous roads, so we relaxed and enjoyed our travels. We would recommend taking this tour to see such beautiful places and in such a relaxing and enjoyable way.

5.00The tour was one of our best family vacations. The tour guide was good and the driver was amazing with excellent skills making our trip very relax and we enjoy the 3 days 2 nights trip very much. We travelled by the tour bus passing through mountain ranges and valleys with beautiful scenery. We were pleasantly surprised by the vineyard with so much local culture at Puli before visiting its night market and enjoyed some delicious local tribal delicacies. Then we had great experience walking and hiking through forest in both Sun Moon Lake and Alishan while stopping by at some of the interesting cultural spots such as Wen Wu temple, Ci En Pagoda, Sun Moon Lake Visitor Center. The Fleur de Chine Hotel facing the Sun Moon Lake was five star where we spend a wonderful night after enjoying the Christmas Eve dinner in the hotel. We were very happy to visit the Southern branch of Taiwan National Museum prior to the end of the trip. Indeed, it was a worth while trip.
