We had a great time at the cooking class - the meals were delicious and the class itself was great, very hands on and a great group size. The chef was great and the setting was very nice. The only downside is we had some traffic when being collected by the shuttle at the beginning of the class, so a 10 min drive turned into a 1.5-2h drive, and our class started quite late. It did feel like we got a little rushed toward the end of the class due to this - we didn’t get as much time to sit and enjoy the meal, wine, and dessert as they had to shuttle us back to the metro before it closed. We also didn’t get to make the sauces ourselves (which I’m unsure if was meant to be included and we just didn’t have time, or). Unfortunately not their fault, though! Otherwise great experience. :)

Incredible experience - highly recommended! The booking process was easy and the guides communicated well! The class location is very nice and clean, and very organized. The instructor was incredibly knowledgeable about making dough and offered a lot of tips and instructions. The class moved along at a good pace, with time to ask questions. Cooking the pizzas in the oven was a fun experience! Then eating everything we cooked was great! The dessert and limoncello tasting topped off the night perfectly! This is a MUST do!

  • Excellent Pizza Class — But Confusing Logistics and a Late Night

    Timothy S,

    - Review from Viator

The class itself was fantastic — a full five-star experience. The instructor made it fun and engaging, and I’ve already made Neapolitan pizza several times since returning home. We learned, cooked, laughed, and enjoyed pizza, pasta, and wine together afterward. My reason for giving four stars instead of five comes down to the logistics. Originally, our class was scheduled for 10:30 a.m., but the day before, the tour operator asked us to switch to the 5:30 p.m. class, saying it would be a smaller group. We agreed, but the class ended up being just as full, and we didn’t sit down to eat until after 8:00 p.m. — a much later night than expected. The bigger issue was Viator’s confusing meetup information. The Viator listing said the meeting point was Laurentina Metro Station, but the map on the Viator page showed a pin on Via del Corso, only a few blocks from our hotel. I assumed the map was correct and that Laurentina referred to something nearby. The tour operator also texted “Laurentina Metro”, but I didn’t realize that Laurentina is actually about a 25–30 minute drive from central Rome — not a short walk away. Since we were traveling with my wife’s 80-year-old parents, we decided to take a taxi directly to the class rather than walk to what I thought was the meetup point on Via del Corso. That decision turned out to be the only reason we made it on time — had we walked to Via del Corso as shown on Viator’s map, we would have completely missed the class. To the operator’s credit, they gave us a ride back to Laurentina afterward and were very kind about the mix-up. But when I mentioned the problem, their only response was, “I don’t know why Viator does that.” Bottom line: The class was excellent and absolutely worth doing — just don’t rely on the Viator map for the meetup location. Confirm the exact spot directly with the operator before you go.

  • Don’t use Viator!

This was quite the experience. This class is located 15km away from city center and we did not know until the day of. We took the metro and a van ride to get there. The chef was very nice and the food turned out good but it was a little concerning for the first portion of the class. I booked 6 tours with Viator for my trip to Italy, after this I cancelled the remaining 3 tours. Viator is awful, please book directly with the company or use a different service!!

We were told to meet at the metro station for pick up, which was a nice option so we didn’t have to pay for taxi there and back considering it’s about 20 min out of Rome. The pick up was late and had us stressed that we were in the wrong place. Then once we arrived I felt like we were rushed to start the pasta portion. The lady teaching the pasta portion was the better option of this experience, she was lovely and entertaining and hands on. I wasn’t expecting all of our pasta to be combined into one portion to be shared. Didn’t feel like that was very sanitary. After the pasta portion there was a few minutes to wash hands and grab some wine before the pizza portion started. The pizza portion was the longest part. The instructor went through very detailed explanation of how the dough is made. This detailed explanation was loooong, and we stood around the table watching him make dough. Personally it was just too much explanation and I felt I was about to fall asleep. Finally when the pizza making portion started these instructions felt rushed and people again were not using gloves to grab their toppings so another part that felt unsanitary. After a few mishaps with some pizzas going in the oven, we finally sat down to enjoy our pizza. The food was good and I still ate everything, despite feeling weird about others touching it. The wine was in large dispensers in a fridge, and if you didn’t want wine or water they had a few soda options that cost extra. I’m glade we opted to get picked up (even with the tardiness) because as soon as we finished dessert we were told to call taxi to leave if you weren’t taking the ride back to train station. Not a great experience but not terrible.
