Get the privilege to enter a real knife factory, with over 100 years of history, where the raw blades arrive directly from the Blacksmith. Visit the Sharpening Station and the main office. Observe the blades being turned into proper handmade cooking knives. Every 3rd Tuesday of the month, the museum has an inventory and might close without notice on that day. In that case, your guide will take you directly to The knife company and include the history of cutlery while walking, and at the office. Thank you.

Learn about the 400 years old origin story of the Traditional Japanese cinnamon mochi and receive one as a present. Chance to buy more if you want to.
This is probably the reason why you will join our Walking Tour in Sakai. Visit a traditional Japanese Knife Factory with over 100 years of family history. Go inside the sharpening station and watch professional working on the blades that comes directly from the Blacksmith. Step inside the main office, where you can see those blades being cleaned, engraved, put together with a high-quality handle to become a real Japanese Cooking Knife. On the second floor, the staff welcomes us to their office to introduce us to their product and to teach us how to sharpen a knife traditionally and properly with a stone. Our guests can practice and learn on-site. To finish, only if you want to (no obligation), you have the chance to order your own knife (or knives), to choose the type of blade, handle, material, color (if possible) and engraving. You can watch the staff making the knife in the office, in front of you, and follow the process step by step until it is finished. Amazing!

1.00I tried contacting the tour operator several times via message and phone calls to find out the length of the tour as I couldn’t find it in the description. Nobody answered any message or voicemails. The day before the tour I contacted Viator directly. A nice lady said she believed the tour was 4 hours, so I said I’d like to cancel the tour. She said Viator would handle it. The morning of the tour I received a call from the tour operator saying they were waiting for me, and that I was delaying the other guests. The afternoon after the tour I received this message: Dear Ernesto, Thank you for contacting Japan Tour Adventure. Our sincere apologies for not answering your message sooner. The average time of the tour (3 to 4 hours), is clearly mentioned on the tour page. We also heard from your guide today, as you did not join the tour, that you wanted to cancel. You did not book directly with us, and your cancelation request, which you mentioned to our guide, came in less than 24 hours before the tour departure. We also did not receive any refund request through Viator, so you were officially considered a No-show. For any refund request, with a valid reason, don't hesitate to get in touch with Viator directly. The communication with the tour operator and among the tour operator and Viator should’ve been handled in a more efficient way. I hope Viator manages this and get my refund, even if the tour operator says it will not.

5.003 of us ladies just joined this knife walking tour to accompany 1 friend who is planning to help her son to buy a special knife in Sakai. We dont know what to expect for the tour except to learn more about knife-making. It turned out the factory that we visited isn't the brand/type of knife my friend's son wanted. Our Guide Remy (Hope I spell his name correctly) even made an effort to bring us to the knife factory that my friend wanted to go. However, the factory was closed for lunch and we had to return in disappointment in not getting the knife but not with our walking tour. Its a good experience to know about Sakai and its history.
