Akaka Falls State Park
One of Hawaii's most famous waterfalls, stunning Akaka Falls plummets a sheer 440 feet into a gorge. Access is along a 750 foot trail with lush rainforest, bamboo, ferns and some wild orchids, so it's easy to see why it's so popular. Consider hiking the added 800 feet to Kahuna Falls and for the whole hike to take under an hour. To access the falls state park, we will pass through the eclectic, ex-plantation town of Honomu, where we can make a quick stop for a baked Hawaiian treat, Big Island coffee or even visit the goat dairy.

5.00This was a complete game changer for our trip. We felt like we had a knowledgeable to work guide with us our whole trip! This was especially helpful as we navigated volcanoes national park, but so nice to have around the entire island! He is so great to point out different options, good food stops, as well as shopping. I especially loved learning all of the history of the island!

5.00This is a great app for touring the island on your own. We learned new things along the way to each destination. It was a good navigation system and went at the perfect pace. Easy to listen to and follow. Loved how you could start and stop it at anytime on the drive.

5.00I really enjoyed this app tour. The GPS triggers seemed to work flawlessly. The navigation was clear and timely. The tour gave me information I would not have had otherwise and shared sites and experiences I would otherwise have missed. I highly recommend it. Go at your own pace and start and stop as you want. The narrator is very good with a pleasant voice and good expression.

5.00Love this app!!! We have a baby traveling with us so we didn’t want to do a formal tour. This app gives us ideas, history and good information. It allows us the flexibility to make stops as needed and create our own itineraries. Another feature we just discovered…. At any later time you may touch a spot to review or listen to information, again, if (in our case) a baby was crying and you didn’t quite catch something.👍 Even if we didn’t have a small child with us, my husband and I loved having our own private guide so we could explore on our own without the hassles of a big group, a bus or needing to tip a guide.

5.00The narrator is a little hokey and has nothing to say about the saddle road, or, more surprisingly, the drive up to the Mauna Kea summit. But it’s good to have overall, with good descriptions of other places. I do recommend it.
