St. George’s Chapel closes at 4pm and is closed to visitors on Sundays as services are held throughout the day.
As Windsor Castle is a working royal palace, sometimes the entire Castle or the State Apartments within the Castle need to be closed at short notice.
During the winter months an additional five rooms, known collectively as the Semi-State Rooms, are included in the visitor route.
St. George’s Chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays as services are held throughout the day. Worshippers are welcome to attend the services. It also closes at 4pm during the week, so please ensure that this is one of the first places you visit upon arrival.
Windsor castle is closed on every Tuesday & Wednesday and on 17th June 2024, and 24-26 December 2024.

Windsor Castle
Departing from Central London, your driver will take you straight to Windsor Castle for an extended visit. Upon arrival at Windsor Castle audio guides are available in different languages. Windsor Castle Steeped in history, Windsor Castle perches proudly on a lush wooded hill overlooking the Thames. Dating back to Norman times, with sweeping landscaped gardens and turreted Round Tower, it’s easy to see why it’s the Queen’s favorite weekend residence. Enjoy a fascinating through–the–keyhole peek at the lavish State Apartments, home to priceless artworks by Rembrandt and Leonardo da Vinci, and visit St. George’s Chapel, the atmospheric final resting place of former monarchs including Henry VIII. You can visit Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House, a truly incredible structure complete with working lifts, running water, electricity and wine bottles, all in miniature! This tour is unescorted and you will spend approximately 2 hours at Windsor Castle.

5.00Excellent trip out to Windsor, driven by the most excellent Edson. Lovely coach, got us safely there and back. The tour itself is the unguided tour, and we were able to see all of the spaces on offer. We had one person with mobility issues, and staff provided a chair for us to use. They were also amazing with ramps and lifts as needed.

5.00Joe, our driver, was excellent and very attentive. He took us right to the entrance of Windsor Castle and gave us all the necessary instructions, including the pick-up time for the return bus. I recommend bringing only a small snack, as the time is limited. You’ll be able to see Windsor Castle and the chapel (note that it’s closed on Sundays). There isn’t extra time, but it’s enough for what the tour promises. Overall, a very good experience!

3.00Too little time to take full advantage of the self-guides. We entered the site at 2:20 p.m. and had to leave at 4:30 p.m. to arrive in time at the meeting place for departure. Barely 2 hours while we are announced a 3 hour visit. You have to hide the information on the audio guide and there is no time to visit souvenir shops or shops outside the Châreau site.

1.00By the time you get in and have to leave you have about 2 hours which you will need to rush through to get it done. The tour come with a dining voucher which we didn’t get and we left at 5:00pm so was too early for dinner anyway. I suggest booking it on your own for this one.
