Nasrid Palaces
We visited the jewel of the monument, the Nasrid Palaces, residence of the sultans who ruled the Alhambra. There are three palaces with different uses. The Mexuar palace, the meeting place for the Sultan's advisors, is the public palace. Comares Palace is the official palace where the sultan received the ambassadors The palace of the lions which is the private palace where the sultan lived with his family.

5.00Having a private tour cost more but well worth it given the access we had with our guide and the personal service. Tarek was our guide and he is Egyptian that has lived in Granada for almost 50 years and has a History degree and knowledge that surpasses anyone we could have had. Tarek is an excellent communicator and presenter with deep knowledge that gave us such insight into the Alhambra Medina and surrounding Garden of Generlife and the Nasrid Palaces developed by the Moors before the Christian took it over. He also has command of Arab language so much of the motifs in the walls he could interpret for us.

5.00This was a truly one of a kind way to experience the Alhambra. While a personal tour guide can seem pricey, our time with Sherif was so worth the expense. He took us throughout the entire Generalife, Nasrid Palaces, and gardens. He was incredibly knowledgeable and satisfied the questions of a history buff while making the stories of the site accessible to history novices as well. He speaks Arabic as well as Spanish and English, so could translate inscriptions on walls as well walked. We took things at our own pace, stopping for a bathroom break or coffee when needed and taking more time when we wanted. Sherif even took photos of us- he knows the perfect shots that best capture the Alhambra’s beauty. We ended up taking 4+ hours to see the site, but it could go as long or short as you want. Don’t hesitate to book this tour, it’s awesome!

5.00We had an incredible tour of the Alhambra with our guide, Sherif. He was fantastic—super knowledgeable, engaging, and brought so much history to life. His ability to read and speak Arabic added a really unique and valuable layer to the experience, especially when explaining the many Arabic inscriptions and designs throughout the city. Highly recommend touring with him!

5.00Sherif was an expert on Alhambra! Our tour was in English, however, his Arabic translations made the story behind Alhambra more impactful. We have traveled the world and put Sherif’s tour at the top of our list!
