Kuranda Scenic Railway
A 37-kilometre rail journey onboard authentic vintage carriages through the Barron Gorge National Park (World Heritage-listed rainforest – The Wet Tropics) from Cairns to Kuranda, a village in the rainforest. The track rises 327 metres above sea level with the steepest gradient being 1:50. Travelling over 55 bridges, 98 curves & through 15 hand carved tunnels. Audio commentary in each carriage to provide customers with historical information throughout the journey. Complimentary trip guide (available in 11 languages) The guide includes a journey map corresponding with the onboard commentary. Onboard Guest Services Attendants can answer questions and assist during the journey. 10-minute photographic stop at Barron Falls Lookout. Water coolers in each carriage. Not all Kuranda Scenic Railway seats have a window however all seats have access to view the scenery.
Skyrail Rainforest Cableway
Enjoy a unique perspective of this ancient landscape with unsurpassed panoramic views of Barron Gorge and Australia’s Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. Glide metres above the pristine jungle canopy between Smithfield (Cairns) and Kuranda, en route, descend to explore the rainforest close up at Red Peak and Barron Falls.

5.00Excellent experience with our guide picking us up from our hotel, dropping us at train and meeting in Kuranda. Very informative. Kuranda is primarily a walking of shops and restaurants but there are also several short walking trails as preferred. Tram way down is a must! Our guide met us at train stand and dropped us back at hotel. As long as travelers are on time this works great!

5.00No better way to see the beautiful landscape than from above.. the Skyrail and train were fabulous. From pick up at hotel, organising tickets and itinerary to our return, our guide Man made it all run smoothly.. highly recommended

3.00Our driver Man was great; however, you do not need to do this through a tour company. If it included lunch and the army duck cruise (like local tour company’s offer) then it would have been worth the price! Save your money and organise locally when you arrive in Cairns.

5.00Getting on the train at Freshwater than catching it at Cairns city means that you could park free and be possibly closer to accommodation if north of city. Our driver "Man" from Infinity fun travel was reliable and very friendly, totally recommended.
The train a piece of amazing history and the Sky Rail a great view of the tropical forest from above.

5.00It is relaxed and informative, with some incredible scenery. Two staff in the car were very helpful giving me a heads up of photo opportunities along the route. Very much appreciated .
