Being listed as a world heritage with a mesmerizing beauty, Halong Bay is a must-see destination when you visit Vietnam. And there is no better way to witness this natural wonder than an overnight cruise trip, which is also included in this journey. After breakfast in hotels in Hanoi, you will be leaving Hanoi on a 3,5hours to Halong. Reaching the port at about mid-day, friendly and professional staff on the cruise, will support in check-in and arranging rooms, before you have lunch on-board with other guests while the junk heads to Halong Bay. There will be a plenty of exciting activities on-cruises, including sightseeing and visiting Thien Cung Grotto, beach activities like kayaking, or cooking class on deck with lesson on making Vietnamese traditional dishes. Dinner with fresh seafood is served at around 7:00pm (depending on cruise’s actual schedule), and the rest of the night is for you to enjoy tranquil atmosphere of the bay. Note: Please be kindly informed that the tour guide will not escort you on the cruises, and be replaced by crew members who are fluent in English.

Reviewing operator, ship and guide that you would get while booking this one, and this is not a review of HaLong Bay itself (that is beautiful depending on weather). Tour operator BestPrice Travel., JSC booked me to a cruise ship that looks nothing like in the images. When questioned, answer was images are representative and cruise can be of their choice. Don't be surprised to see a decayed vessel when you arrive (should you book). Halong Phoenix Cruiser, on which I was booked is in pretty bad shape, I saw cockroaches, rooms are dirty, toilet had rust and spider webs on showerhead, no hot water. Food served was terrible, either boiled or deep-fried, but nothing really good. They include set-menu in your price but force you to buy water at $2 for 200ml, ridiculous. One staff member spoke broken English. Lastly, the tour guide, Mr Bien/Mr Sea as he called himself. Left us with kids and luggage on a busy street, a good 500 meters from hotel, saying its one-way and that he would have to make more turns, funny enough at rest stop he was forcing me to go buy souvenirs and said he would wait for me to return when the entire bus was ready to go, this despite we saying we don't want to buy, he had even put things in our basket without consent. Our kid fell off on the busy street while we tried to haul luggage by ourselves, he or his staff did not help entire time of the tour, fellow travelers were more helpful and kind. And the bus driver was even more arrogant, he was forcing us to leave the bus at rest stops even when my infant had slept off, he wanted me to carry and go to souvenir shop. Oh we also had a burst back tyre on route from Hanoi, the bus we got into was a cramped 25 seater with legroom of 25 inches, had no WiFi or anything. I must say, avoid this operator, ship and guide for your own good experience.

Good: - hotel pickup but it would have been nice to have a phone number for the coordinator! - boat was awesome. Our cabin was lovely and had key AC. Crew very nice. Food was great- it was like 8 courses each meal. Not as good: - every boat makes the same stops so there are so many people. It is sad to see the trash and polluted water from all the boats but Ha Long is still beautiful. Hopefully Vietnam continues to work on conservation to protect this area. - our guides need a speaker or something so everyone can hear in the cave. We want to hear the history or stories!
