Experience stunning scenery on an unforgettable day trip to Milford Sound.
The pristine Milford Sound is part of the World Heritage Fiordland National Park, in the south west of the South Island, and is famed for its remote atmosphere and rugged beauty. It is New Zealand’s best known fiord and the only one that can be reached by road. Maori are believed to have discovered Milford Sound more than 1,000 years ago, returning seasonally to collect the prized pounamu (greenstone). In the early 1800s John Grono was the first European settler to land in the sound, which he named after Milford Haven in Wales.
Described by Rudyard Kipling as the 'eighth wonder of the world', Milford Sound was carved by glaciers during the ice ages. Milford Sound is breathtaking in any weather. Cliffs rise high into the air from the dark waters, mountain peaks scrape the sky and waterfalls cascade downwards, some as high as 1000 metres.

Long journey to get there but well worth it. Be prepared for the weather being windy and cold as it was when I did this trip.

The view, the clear sky, the sparking water, the open ocean, the dazzling waterfalls, and the lazying seals! It was a long bus ride (to and fro), but the trip was worth it. Also had a chance to see some dolphins doing their rounds around the cruise. Dwayne was fun with his commentary - I learnt so much about the farms and wildlife in NZ during the bus ride.

Our experience was magnificent! The sights were breathtaking and Dwayne our driver was awesome! He kept us on schedule and exuded pride in his job. I wish we could have had longer stays at each stop and lunch was better though. Aside from those minor things, if you are considering booking, you absolutely should!

We enjoyed the informative bus ride to the Milford Sound with a few stops along the way. Even though it was raining at the sound we did get to see so many waterfalls. A wonderful time.

Bus tour driver was knowledgeable and professional! The stops were scenic and the restrooms clean. The only critique is that the meeting spot was changed and we were not notified ahead of time. Luckily a staff member came looking for us and we didn’t miss our tour bus!
