Meet our herd of 300 reindeer and join on a 30-minute sleigh ride while enjoying the beautiful nature a and the wonderful northern night sky!
We cannot predict when lady aurora shows up, but we are lucky to have a location with very little light pollution and beautiful nature to experience this phenomenon in all its splendour!
After a sleigh ride of about 30 minutes, you will head towards the fence and feed our lovely reindeers.
Right after, you will head to our Gamme-hut where you will enjoy some hot drinks and you will get to taste our reindeer stew or our hearty vegan soup.
When we are all comfortable, our Sami guide will tell you more about the Sami culture and history, they will show you some of our traditional crafts.
At the end of the tour, when the rest of the group heads back to Tromsø, you will be accompanied to your tent where you will learn how to keep yourselves warm through the night, just like it has been done for centuries, in what we call “hot tent camping”.

Once in a lifetime experience, we were lucky to see the Aurora Borealis both at dusk Whether in complete darkness, For several times during the Night, friendly and helpful staff, the tent is very comfortable and well heated by the wood stove. Highly recommended!

Feeding the reindeer was great drum and the sleigh ride was good. The highlight was staying over in one of their warm tents, would fully recommend. The talk about the Sami tribe was really interesting, although the Indians in the group were the rudest, inconsiderate bunch of a-holes I have ever had the displeasure to be in a room with, the speaker pushed through and provided some great insights into the Sami’s lifestyle. Personally not a big fan of reindeer stew for dinner, but breakfast was nice.

The absolute highlight of my trip to Tromso! I highly recommend to go for the overnight option, it gives the best value for money and is a great alternative to staying in a downtown hotel for a night. Very authentic feeling thanks to the sami guides who offer an insight into their culture. And who can say they rode like santa???

We are 3 friends and we spent the most magical nights possible in this Sami camp, we went to bed at 3am after spending the evening talking dancing and drinking beers with the Sami, their welcome was magical, they love animals so much and their job was so great. The tent is top comfort, everything was great explained and everything to welcome us as well as possible, we even saw the Northern Lights. We can’t thank Mikael (the camp leader) and his team enough for the unforgettable evening we spent with them. The breakfast the next day was also excellent. Everyone welcomed us so well as if we knew them forever. We recommend 100%, go for it!!!

Overall we had a fun time at the Tromso Lapland basecamp, however we were disappointed by the communication and inconsistencies from the website-- especially considering it was not a cheap activity. Pros: - Stunning Surroundings, even saw the Northern Lights! - Awesome campsite, loved the various campfires and areas to relax and enjoy the natural beauty - Reindeer feeding was more fun than I expected, very playful and fun interacting with the herd - Food was very tasty - Sami guides were fun to chat with and gave interesting talks on their cultural heritage -Montserrat was the host who set us up in our tent and she was AWESOME Cons: - Bus accident on the way to camp from the driving going too fast in the snow and the corporate office did nothing to offer an apology or otherwise acknowledge the incident - Total lack of communication regarding our stay as overnight guests. No one told us what to do and many of the staff seemed surprised when we told them we had an overnight booking - Tents do not match the photos on their booking site - We arrived back in Tromso an hour later than advertised which made us miss our next activity we had booked - Sledding was canceled (not their fault, weather was hit and miss during our visit)

Unfortunately that evening, due to the weather, it was not possible to make the sleigh ride with reindeer but only to feed them in the enclosure and pet them (they immediately refunded a part). Dinner is very nice, with reindeer stew and vegetarian option, tea, hot chocolate, cookies etc., and with explanation of Sami tradition. The night in the tent was fantastic, if you wake up every 45 minutes it is very hot! The next day breakfast was super plentiful and varied. Too bad not to have seen the dawn otherwise it would have been even more magical 😍 recommended!

We were well taken care of throughout our overnight stay. We were given adequate firewood and extra clothing to keep ourselves warm. They were also very understanding of all the attendees who wanted to take pictures of the northern lights; you require a bit of luck to see them, but you should have ample time to take your dream photos. Great experience overall!

Amazing experience. We did the Reindeer Sledding, Feeding and overnight stay. We really enjoyed the ride, and the feeding. It was interesting to learn more about Sami culture and eat Sami food. The Sami food was simple and really tasty - with an option of Reindeer or Vegetarian stew and fresh bread. Our party had both and all agreed that they were really nice. There were also biscuits, hot chocolate and more. The evening was topped off by an aurora. We stayed overnight at the camp in a 4 person tent which is limited to 16 people. The staff couldn’t have been more fabulous making sure we had what we needed and being clear that we had access to the cold weather gear, and outdoor fire and an indoor fire beyond our tents if we wanted to. As a result we got to sit outside by the fire chatting (roasting the marshmallows we had brought) and saw another aurora whist appreciating the silence. In the morning we were able to go back in among the Reindeer, but had access to the whole camp and a great breakfast with cereal, eggs bacon and cold meat, cheese and fruit. The team were all extremely friendly and couldn’t have worked harder to make sure we had what we needed.

The visit was cut because it was too warm to sled, which was fine but: 1. No one told our group what time was breakfast and when we arrived all of the hot food had been eaten by the other family. 2. The website states we would be back in Tromso by 11am and we have just left at 11:07am. We have flights booked and anticipated an on time return. Overall, felt very touristy. Because there was no sledding there was a very long time of sitting around and waiting for something to happen. Camping out was the best part because there were just 12 of us there. Once the crowds left it would have been cool to interact with the Sami people or have a private visit with the reindeer, maybe a suggestion for others to ask for that if you camp.
