Overall the hike was good. We did have an issue before the hike and the company would not respond and when I finally call did not want to help at all. Also they did not stress that poles are essential so many choose not to get them but they are not optional for the way down. It is very slippery. This hike is extremely hard our whole group was in great shape and still struggle. Once we got to our base camp there is a second hike (Fuego) equally as hard to get you even closer. I personally don’t think it was worth it but that is up to you. The guide changed the price once we got up there which really annoyed all of us. I would recommend this hike if you are in great shape but maybe another company. Also 6 or 7 people per cabin.

Guides were awesome! The group was small compared to other groups and we had a great view of Fuego from camp. Plus the camp is the lowest huts on that side of Acatanango so it's the shortest distance to go down Acatanango and up Fuego if you choose to pay extra (like we did) to go up Fuego which is definitely worth it! The hike is super steep but doable, and the guides go at the pace of the group. The meals are great and they even offered me a vegetarian option (but be warned it didn't have any protein if that is important to you and you are vegetarian). We stayed one night on the volcano and it was COLD so bring way more clothes than you think you need and lots of socks! We totally lucked out with the weather and had clear skies and the whole night but make sure to check the weather before. We booked the night before and had no issues, but again we might have lucked out with availability

The guides were great. Views of the volcano erupting at night were amazing ! The trail was a little crowded at the beginning and end of the hike.

The views on this hike were absolutely amazing. It was a bucket list activity. The guides were nice. The cabin was a bit rough but this trek was less expensive than others.

The hike is hard, but very doable. If you don’t have great physical condition, just take your time. I extremely enjoyed the hike experience, views and people you meet on the way! Fair warning, it’s definitely not glamping. Bring enough toilet paper, hand sanitizer and cash. There are stops where you can buy snacks, water, and coffee. Although the instructions say to bring 4 liters of water, I don’t think that’s completely necessary. If you are a heavy water drinker, definitely bring it. Otherwise, 2 liters is more than enough. You can always buy more if you need to. Make sure you have enough phone battery for pictures and videos of the wonderful views. You are there 2 days, so a power bank is very useful. Bring 2 layers of warm clothes (including socks) for the night, it’s extremely cold. If you don’t have hiking shoes, it would be a good idea to rent them. The terrain is rocky and with gravel at times, becoming slippery because it’s steep. It’s a wonderful experience!

This is an experience of a lifetime, and if you are fit and in strong physical form, I highly recommend this adventure. The hike is extremely challenging, good shoes and walking poles are a must. Be advised, due to weather conditions you might not see much. We got mostly lucky, but we heard stories of people not being able to see anything due to cloud coverage. The forecast for our hike was raining all day, which didn't happen, but when we got to base camp and for sunset hike, everything was covered by clouds. You really can't predict. But then the night and morning were super clear and oh my, it was a sight to see. The tour guides were nice, however only one of them spoke some English, and he ended up not walking with our group most of the time. Thankfully we had a proficient Spanish speaker in our group to translate and help us communicate. The base camp was fine, the location was good. We got lucky and our tent had semi-clear walls and was facing the volcano, so we could see big explosions. The other half of our group was in another tent and couldn't see the volcano from there. Be advised this team charges extra $40/pp for sunset hike. We saw some reviews mention that, so we emailed TripAdvisor and they confirmed it is included in the booking price without extra fee. However, on the spot we were told we have to pay extra, no matter that we had a confirmation in writing. It should be added in the details so people can have set expectations, plan, and withdraw money. The food was tasty and sufficient amount I would say for lunch and dinner and breakfast. You still should bring snacks, and plan your water accordingly, we brought hydration powder that helped us stretch our water further. We also had some communication challenges; it was hard for them to accommodate our special request. All we wanted is to drive ourselves, and they didn't like it and told us to get there by 8 am, even though the group got there around 10 and we left around 11am, and getting that arranged via whatsup was stressful and they were sort of rude and unfriendly.

Day starts with pick up from town center to the starting point of the hike. They have all the equipment you would need for the hike available for rent at good prices. Hike starts, very steep at first, plenty of breaks, loads of places to buy drinks as you go up every 20 mins or so. Hike to base camp circa 4-4.5 hours and then option of hiking to Fuego for Q250/$25. People say it’s a lot harder than hike to Basecamp but it’s roughly the same but very worth it. Accomodation is pretty cosy and you have a little campfire to help keep warm. Bring LOTS OF LAYERS! Beanie hat, snood, 2x jackets, thermals etc all needed as it gets seriously cold at night but in the cabin we were all surprisingly warm. Key mentions have to be made for Eduardo and Luis who set the pace and take you the best route and have a laugh with you as you’re doing some pretty tough hiking. Overall defo recommend this tour and food etc is all included so just remember to bring plenty of water with you!!
