Come with us for your small-group Aurora hunt for an ethical experience chasing the Aurora Borealis. Leave the light pollution in Tromsø behind and travel into the Arctic wilderness. Our guides use forecasts and local knowledge to decide on the best place to chase the Northern Lights. When we find the best spot, we will dress in warm thermal suits and boots, make a cosy campfire, and enjoy a homemade meal. During the tour, your guide will take photos of you, which will be available for free in web-sized resolution after the tour.

During our time together in the wilderness, we will collect data for a citizen science project and help protect the Arctic nature through responsible tourism.

Relax by the fire with hot chocolate before returning to Tromsø island to your hotel. Though there is never a guarantee of seeing this phenomenon, our Aurora Hunters will do their best every night of the season. Increase your chances of seeing the Northern Lights by joining on multiple evenings.

This was a great tour as we had quite entertaining guides and Driver (Koon, Jordi and the Vitak) and in the end, could see the lights too! Lots of chit chats, laughs and stories around the campfire while we waited for the lights. All citizen science means is that after the tour you will be asked questions re the lights and your responses are recorded for further study.
Unique and Amazing experience, surrounded by great people!!!

Amazing guide (Coen) with loads of stories facts, wild life, astronomy and science knowledge. Great driver (Chris) took us to several points, even with low northern lights activity we pursued them until we got some great photos from Aurora!!! It has been our first time in Norway and we will highly recommend to everyone. They brought soup and hot chocolate and advised on how to stay warm! I thought the 4 layers I had on were enough when they offered a snow suit, but it was amazing for the -12ºC!! Thank you so much, can’t wait to see the edited pics!!

Despite the not so promising signals, our guide Coen and our driver Cris gave us a GREAT SHOW! 🌌 🏔️ What an incredible experience!! Worth every penny!! Great service, snacks and photography!! To have tour guides with such great passion is such a blessing!!!!! Thanks guys 🤩

Coren and the Driver really went to their full efforts to ensure we as a party saw the northern lights, our first stop looked promising but cloud cover soon come over. Coren quickly decided to head towards Otertind Mountain for the best chance and he delivered!!! Chris the driver has been driving tonight for well over 4 hours. If you want to come to the northern lights book with wandering owl!!

So much fun! My husband and I are on our honeymoon and we went on two Aurora hunts this week with driver Michael and guide Coen. Both were great- Michael is an excellent driver and made us feel safe throughout both nights. Michael also played a large role in starting a bonfire and feeding us soup as well as helping us get geared up. Coen was a great guide, who made sure we saw the lights both nights! Both trips were about 6-7 hours (one 6pm-12am and the other until 1am). There was a bathroom break provided towards the end of one of the tours, so I’d recommend bringing a tissue and being prepared to go in the woods if needed. Dress warm! They provide boots and suits but warm clothing underneath definitely helps! They provided a very good hot vegan soup. Both Michael and Coen were very professional and we would book with them again! Coen also provided us with professional photos the day after the tours, which was awesome!
Higher chance of seeing northern lights in the Finland-Sweden border

This is a very impressive and intense aurora hunting that Magda and Michael brought to the Finland and Sweden border to light up the campfire and watch the northern light even when the weather is bad in Tromsø. I highly recommend if you can't watch the northern lights yourself in Tromsø and this can secure a higher chance to watch it!

Absolutely fantastic! Our driver Michael and guide Coen literally went the extra mile to ensure we had a wonderful experience. We travelled to Hansnes for gaps in the clouds and were rewarded with a beautiful Aurora. The minibus was comfy and a group of 15 meant there was a lovely friendly atmosphere throughout. Flasks of soup with bread and later on hot chocolate and cookies! Can’t recommend highly enough… if you’re looking for a tour operator for your Northern Lights experience, don’t waste time googling, WANDERING OWL is the one to choose!
10/10 Would recommend!

Corn & Michael were fantastic. Incredibly attentive and knowledgable and made this trip enjoyable despite the heavy snow, and was even able to squeeze a sighting. Plus a lovely convo about the Carrington Event. Couldn’t recommend enough!

The weather in Tromsø was very cloudy and rainy, so we decided to take the tour to increase the chances of seeing auroras. It was wonderful, we stopped in 4 or 5 different places and captured some beautiful images. Magda and Gerard, very friendly, professional and friendly. We learned about the auroras the Sami and the Norwegian population! Always willing to achieve the best experience!
