  Aneta took us on the best tour and set our expectations as to what we could expect from the evening. We were very lucky and the auroras were even better than expected and Aneta enthusiasm for them teamed with her brilliant photography made this a night to remember. We huddled around a campfire and had some delicious vegetable soup, home made cookies and hot chocolate. Going with a small group made the experience really special and meant we could be agile when finding a spot to hunt the Aurora.

  We had a fantastic evening in a beautiful location. Although we only briefly saw a “baby Aurora” this evening was unforgettable. Our guide Bart has squeezed himself into all kinds of bends to make the evening great! No effort was too much and he also took nice pictures of everyone and emailed them neatly.   Had a great evening with Anna going Aurora hunting. Not only was Anna super friendly and informative, but she also demonstrated some fantastic knowledge of the local weather patterns to find us some perfect clear skies on what was ostensibly a night of dense cloud. It was truly a very special trip for us and I can't recommend Anna and Wandering Owl enough to anyone who is looking for a great Northern Lights experience

  Evgeny took us on our first day in tromsø on a truly once in a lifetime view of the northern lights. Going in, we had limited expectations due to weather and our short time. When we got in the van, he suggested to take us to the beach instead of inland. The adults-only small group was worth it because we were in a smaller van of only six, which means we could take smaller roads and make short quick stops in quieter areas. While the weather was saying clear skies after 930, we got really lucky and found a spot where they cleared early, and the aurora was extremely active, basic iPhone photos and videos were able to pick up a lot of it, which surprised me. Even after the show, Evgeny showed great support by setting up the camp fire and finding some unique spots to incorporate the mountains with the northern lights we were getting for our photos. Thanks again to wandering owl for the great tour!

  I can't believe it. After driving 3 hr in the storm, a thinning, a fire, a soup (very good) and ... aurora borealis!! Surreal, surprising and well done to Aneta for her perseverance and enthusiasm

  I went with Wandering Owl Adults Only Aurora Hunt on New Year's Eve and Bart made it a truly memorable night. It was a frigid night and he was relentless in finding a scenic location away from crowds and large tour busses and kept an eye out for Aurora activity. His efforts paid off as he got us to a beautiful location and the lights began and he took wonderful pictures and built a warm fire around which we sat as he told stories about the auroras and the history of Norway. As we were driving back, the lights came out again and he quickly pulled over so we could take more pictures. It was such a fabulous night.   Aneta was our tour guide in a small minibus with 7 of us tourists. She drove about 3 hours thru driving snow as she was determined to find the northern lights which we did!! She took amazing photos of us as couples/ individuals - told us about the science behind the aurora - gave us lovely home made soup and hot chocolate ! Highly recommend

  We were picked up on time (early in fact as weather was not too clever) and our guide and driver "Bart" was most professional and also entertaining. His driving was excellent given the bad conditions and we felt really safe. He made such efforts to ensure we got to see the aurora and we ended up in Finland at a spot he felt would be a good viewing point, on a frozen lake. It was minus 8 but the windchill made it feel much colder. However Wandering Owl provided us with any warm clothing we needed, including insulated boots. Bart was quick to take action when he felt an aurora would possibly disappear as quick as it appeared, ensuring we didnt miss anything. We had soup and hot chocolate around a camp fire which was well received. Bart is very knowledgable about the science behind the aurora and explained it well. But also a professional photographer and he took many photos of us when the conditions were good. We have just received them and they are fantastic, so much better than the photos we took ourselves using phones. Although it was bitterly cold, we did not feel rushed at all and were given plenty of time to see the lights return after they disappeared, indeed Bart seemed to know this would happen whereas other companies may have given up too soon. We left the site just after midnight, cleaning up and removing any ash from the fire which is their policy to avoid upsetting locals. We returned to our hotel in the early hours but it was well worth it for this once in a lifetime opportunity. Thanks to all at Wandering Owl, we can highly recommend them to anyone wanting to experience the Aurora.

  

• Passion beats the storm in our aurora chase

  Had a fantastic experience with Mia and Elliot (our driver, super unsung hero of the night) Mia was really passionate about chasing the Aurora and did not end the even until the last moment when we were on our way back to Tromso. This was after us chasing from Norway, to Finland, to Sweden. Really wonderful and magical despite the snow storm. Would recommend to come again

  We took this on Christmas Day! And what an absolutely brilliant experience with Bart at Wandering Owls. The tour was timed perfectly and didn’t feel like a crammed bus tour. We were 6 of us in a large comfortable van. Though the skies in tromso were cloudy, Bart drove us through the night getting us even across the border in Finland. He told us stories of the auroras. Literally chopped wood on a dark windy roadside, made a fire. Got us hot soup and bread. Showed us how to read the many apps for the sightings etc. the tour was super enthusiastic, with us chasing the lights at different locations too. Overall took us about 7 hours all in all. We got full thermal suits, and boots. The area was extremely windy and cold, the snow near the Finland border was probably at least 2 feet deep as well. The grand finale was the warm drive back, with some polish music- a cup of hot chocolate and some ginger cookies he carried for us. All in all- totally worth it, super fun, and enriching. The pictures Bart took were outstanding too- super professional stuff- what a bucket list checked!! Ps: the ceo of the company is vegan, so the soup and even the hot chocolate is vegan!
