Chessington World of Adventures Resort
With over 40 rides and attractions in 10 themed lands, a Zoo which gets you face-to-face with over 1000 exotic animals including Lions, Tigers and Monkeys, plus daily live shows and seasonal events, Chessington offers a world of fun and excitement for family days out. In Spring 2019. ‘Room on the Broom - A Magical Journey’, brings to life yet another of author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler’s much-loved children’s stories, following in the footsteps of the Resort’s Gruffalo River Ride Adventure. In Land of the Tiger, Tiger Rock is where you get a unique view of our majestic Amur Tigers, before descending a misty waterfall drop, right through the centre of a giant tiger's head carved into the imposing rock. One not to be missed!

Dragon’s Fury closed, Mamba Strike closed, Tiger Rock closed, Vampire closed, Why bother opening the park? Huge queues for other rides. Anyone looking to book a BlueLightCard day do not bother.

We had a family day out at Chessington World of Adventures and while there were some positives, overall it was a pretty frustrating experience. The rides themselves are great for kids who are ready to try some of the bigger rides but not the really intense ones — a good balance for families. However, the ride access pass system is awful. You have to wait 10–30 minutes between each use, which means a lot of standing around and wasting time instead of actually enjoying the park. It completely defeats the point of having a pass in the first place. The food and drink prices are ridiculously high, and the whole place feels a bit tired and outdated — it could really do with some investment and a refresh. The staff didn’t help matters either. Some were fine, but others were rude or just seemed uninterested. The biggest issue was the inconsistency with the ride access pass — some staff wanted to see the pass, others demanded a band, and some asked for a card. It made everything confusing and stressful. And finally, £12 for parking on top of already expensive tickets is just unnecessary. Overall, it had the potential to be a great family day out, but the poor organisation, high costs, and unhelpful staff made it hard work rather than fun.

I think there are some very positive sides to Chessington. When they get it right, they really get it right. For example, the slow but steady integration of popular franchise ‘worlds’. Specifically the Jumunji World area was exceptional. Both the theming and the rides themselves were fun and the queues felt immersive into the experience. The only thing I’d say about Jumunji world was that it was small. It had three rides. But they were all enjoyable. It was obviously the end of the season when we visited and that should be taken into account, however it was disappointing to have paid a full price ticket to get access to what felt like half-a-theme-park. On our visit, the 35 year celebration for the Vampire ride felt pointless as it was closed (and we were told, ‘it had been for months’). A massive chunk of the park had been boxed off for Paw Patrol world (opens next year, I believe) and the ‘mystery’ area which is coming in 2027 (I hear it’s Minecraft). Both very exciting and I suspect they will do it very well - but that was a significant part of the park that was essentially a construction site. And while they did well to disguise it and not look like an eyesore, it did feel like we were getting half a theme park experience a lot of the time. Which would have been fine if the ticket prices reflected it, and they very much did not. The rides we did go on were fun and enjoyable though, I cannot fault them. The park staff were largely friendly although I have never experienced food delivery slower than our £75 5x chips at the Burger restaurant. But they were apologetic for it. Would I go back? Yes. Would I wait until 2027 when the construction is all over. Also yes. Unless they offer a bit of a discount on the pricing.

Loved my recent visit to Chessington however there were a few things that could be improved upon 1 being the Zafari where we queued for 80 mins just to have a short drive around the animals around 4 mins. Secondly was the amount of rides that were down / under maintenance as while I was there 3 of the 4 of the parks major coasters were down therefore meaning I couldn’t have a ride on some of the parks staple rides. Overall however I have an overwhelmingly positive experience getting on tons of rides and seeing some amazing animals would return to ride some rides that were closed during my visit.

Overall experience was good although it lacked a lot of information. Wasn't told we had to book breakfast so we were denied entry even though we asked reception the day before but we weren't told anything. Luckily they let us use the other rester-aunt. Reception was really unhelpful, sent us on a trip around the hotel gone 10pm in the night with a very tired 6yo looking for a vending machine for toothpaste as we forgot ours. A security guard seen us and said reception had some and took us back to then and asked them so we then had some. They had it all along! Park staff were great but completely left someone cut in front on one of the rides and didn't move them when we said and didn't seem to care.

Having never been to Chessington before and the offer of rides a zoo and sea life centre peaked our interest, our initial entry and seeing some of the animals lived up to that, but it soon waned, the safari ride only benefited someone sat on the left as that’s where the animals were, sadly the tiger and lions had been removed a week or so before we went which was one of the reasons we decided to go, the wanyama view advertised a view of the animals of the safari, but all we saw was seagulls, crows and pigeons, food is ridiculously over priced it even makes concert and football stadiums seem like a home bargains compared to Waitrose pricing, for what you can pay to go to euro disney for 3-4 days it’s a joke, if and when universal build their park if they offer more inside for what Merlin charge they are going to be in big trouble, it’s about time Britain put people before profits

We visited on Halloween with 2 other families - 8 of us in total. A real mixed bag to be honest. We were prepared for 90 mins waits per ride and a horribly busy park (Halloween + half term) but as it was raining for most of the day most rides were less than 15 minutes wait - absolute result!! We took 4 rides on Mandril Mayhem in the time it usually takes to queue once. Gutted Vampire was shut, as it would have been a perfect Halloween ride, but understand rides need maintenance to stay safe. We caught two shows, both of which were fun for the kids (8 years old). The park is launching a few new areas, which is needed, as it's feeling a bit dated compared to European parks like Efteling. The park opened til 7pm, and going on rides in the dark was really fun. All of the staff were friendly - not mean feat considering the damp weather. Bad stuff - extortionate food prices. Appreciate it's a revenue stream, but charging £21 for a burger meal is daylight robbery. We opted for the standard £16 meal deal - rubbery burger, insipid bacon, fries and water. Left a physical and metaphorical bad taste!!!! One of the families is vegan & spent £65 on 4 vegan hot dog meal deals which tasted like cardboard. Again, compared to Efteling and Plopsaland, the food offering is way below par and the cost was the scariest part of our day.

Even though it was heavily raining throughout most of the day, me and my husband had a grand time! All the staff were respectful and lovely making the experience so much better. The only ride that was closed was Vampire with everything else running as planned. Would very much recommend the reserve and ride! It was quite expensive i must admit but it definitely made the difference for us. Very worth it as the most we had to wait was 15 mins for any of the rides (most being under 5 mins) Food was okay ish at the BBQ smokehouse. Generally not too bothered about the food as it is the actual rides we were there for so take it with a grain of salt.
