This full day tour is for lovers of nature and hiking, your experienced local nature guide will take you to a range of rainforest, beach and clifftop hikes. The black sand beaches and rainforest of West Auckland are unique in New Zealand and this tour is a great way to experience the best it has to offer. (3 x 1hr short hikes)
*GOOD LEVEL OF FITNESS REQUIRED. This tour is not suitable for people with any kind of mobility issues. The hikes involve stairs and gradient changes. please note areas visited will differ depending on weather & fitness levels of the clients on the day.
*We are unable to visit a waterfall at present due to track & road closures from cyclone in 2023.

Arataki Visitor Centre - Waitakere Ranges
After pick up from your Auckland city centre hotel we have a short (30min) drive to the Arataki Visitor Centre – gateway to the coastal rainforest. Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over the rainforest back to the city and across to Auckland’s southern harbour. The visitors centre is also home to some traditional Maori carvings and your guide will talk about them and explain their significance for the area. Your eco-tour includes a guided hike in an area of original rainforest where ancient kauri trees tower over the unique trees and plants that have developed separately from the rest of the world for millions of years. Your experienced guide will explain about the local plants and animals as you walk through the forest. *This hike includes stairs

After lunch, hike the clifftop tracks with stunning views along the coast and out across the Tasman Sea.

5.003 amazing walks with a knowledgeable tour guide. She was full of knowledge from trees, facts, natural history to native plants. Even gave us a taste of a local native tea made of a plant we picked in the way. A day I won’t forget!

5.00Gorgeous forest, sea cliff, and beach walks (three) and picnic lunch. Very knowledgeable guide Marry was fun! Check weather, it is a rain forest afterall! : ) Rain did not detract from our enjoyment nor the sites' beauty.

5.00We did this our first day in Auckland. What a great introduction to New Zealand. Meredith was a great guide; she shared a lot of information, but never lectured. We visited 3 different locations, all very different. Saw our first Kouri tree in the first hike (would rate that as easy). Next was a coastal walk that was GORGEOUS. Would rate that as moderate, definitely more challenging. Worth every step though. Had a yummy lunch on the grass then rode to Piha beach. Easy walk across the (hot) sand. Water was great to wade in (we brought sandals to change into-definitely recommend doing that). So totally different but so enjoyable destinations. Highly recommend

5.00Mini Bus picked us up at our hotel and was on time. We stopped to pick up hand pies (Delicious little bakery) for our lunch later that day. We then headed off to several beautiful stops, some with hikes overlooking beautiful scenery. We stopped by a river to eat our lunch and did another short hike before heading back to the city. An amazing tour with some gorgeous sites & great guides.
