This tour exceeded all my expectations! What a brilliant combination of two completely different but equally fascinating experiences. The Suntory Yamazaki Distillery was incredible - and the best part? This tour completely bypasses the lottery system that usually makes these tours so hard to get! Getting to see Japan’s very first whisky distillery in action was like stepping into history. Our Suntory English-speaking guide was knowledgeable and passionate, explaining every step of the whisky-making process from fermentation to aging. The whisky tasting class was absolutely loads of fun. The museum section was beautifully curated and really helped you understand the craftsmanship that goes into each bottle. Then we moved on to the Asahi Art Museum, and I had no idea what we were walking into! This place houses Japan’s most valuable Monet collection - three Water Lilies masterpieces worth collectively around US$180-230 million. Tadao Ando’s underground gallery design creates an intimate viewing experience that really lets you appreciate these world-class paintings. It’s quite something to see some of the finest Impressionist works in such a thoughtfully designed space. The logistics worked - though I’d suggest meeting at the cafe across the road from JR Yamazaki Station rather than at the station itself (easier to spot and grab a coffee while waiting!). Having an English-speaking guide made everything smooth and informative. The timing allowed us to really savor both experiences without feeling rushed. This tour is perfect for anyone who appreciates world-class experiences. The whisky showcases Japanese craftsmanship while the Monet collection represents some of the most valuable paintings in Japan, all in a single day trip. Highly recommend this - especially since it gets you into the notoriously difficult-to-book distillery tour without the hassle of the lottery system. Between the rare whiskies and seeing some of the world’s most valuable paintings, this was easily one of the more memorable cultural experiences I’ve had in Japan!

We had a great guide. Thank you. The time could have been shortened a little as we waited a bit too much for the Yamazaki tour to begin. Worth it.

I had an amazing time at the Asahi museum and the Yamazaki distillery. The aroma of the distillery is mesmerizing and the whiskey tasting at the end was fantastic. Fuji-san is a delightful and wonderful tour guide. I hope to do this again in the future.

We had a wonderful time on this tour. Our host was kind and accommodating. She made sure we understood everything going on around us ( we were relying on translation services to understand the directions and tour). Additionally, we found the museum tour to be more exciting than originally anticipated. We were able to see some original Monet and Van Gogh paintings that we never would have dreamed of having the opportunity to see. We would highly recommend this experience!

The tour was really enjoyable — I can recommend it to everyone. If you like whisky, this is a must. But even if you’re not a big whisky fan, it’s absolutely worth a visit for the history, craftsmanship, and atmosphere.

If you enjoy Japanese whisky and particularly Yamazaki, this is one way to visit and tour the distillery without doing the lottery. Our guide Aya was marvelous—she is kind, fun, helpful, and great to chat with. There is a visit to Asahi museum at the beginning (different location). At the distillery, I think we were the last group at 2:40 pm, and by the end of the tasting class, there was only little time left until they close the main tasting room where you can order the older whiskies (Yamazaki 18, 25, Hakushu, Hibiki, etc.). So go for the earlier opening if available.

This was an excellent day and we could not have asked for a better guide than Aya. Clear directions on where to meet. She was a joy on the day and always ready to help out or translate where possible. Distillery is a great experience with the opportunity to taste some exceptional whiskey. Highly recommend.

Great Experience ! (The only sure shot way to do the Suntory Tour) Adrianna was our coordinator for the trip, she was great and spoke fluent Japanese which really made the tour seamless! Asahi Beer Art Museum : It's not related to the Asahi Beer, it's a beautiful bungalow on top of a hill that's bought by Asahi. Suntory Distillery : We were lucky to be able to do the tasting tour , recommended to carry earphones as sometimes they may put you on a Japanese tour, there is an app that your coordinator will guide you to download, so when the Suntory representative is giving a tour in Japanese you can hear the English version via the app and your earphones.
