This tour covers every part of the bamboo forest. By rickshaw and on foot!

The first stop after cruising through the bustling main street is the bamboo forest. Enjoy the vivid green bamboo as your guide pulls you along the path reserved for rickshaws only, away from other visitors. Have your camera or mobile phone ready to take pictures. You don’t want to miss this.

After passing by the Nonomiya Shrine you will enter the second part of the bamboo forest, which is designed like a little park. Here we can take great group pictures with the stunning green bamboo in the background. On the way to the third and last section of the bamboo forest, you will pass by a well-kept scene from the Edo period

The third part of the bamboo forest can only be accessed on foot, so our guide will park the rickshaw within walking distance and then guide you to the most famous and impressive part of the bamboo forest. (To avoid the crowds here, we recommend starting the tour before noon)

Children of 6 years and older are required to have a seat and will thus pay the same price as an adult.

Our seats measure 74cm (29. 1in) in width and can accommodate up to two adults side by side.

Children 5 years and under can ride for free provided that they will sit on the lap of an adult (one child per adult = max 2 adults & 2 children per rickshaw)

If a child 5 years will be using one of the two seats of the rickshaw, it must book as an adult.

Infants must be able to hold up their head by themselves.

The amount of time you will be late will be deducted from your tour duration (delay of 10min or more results in automatic cancellation)

Time changes on the day of the tour can not be accommodated.

Any time changes/rescheduling requests sent after 5pm the day before your tour can not be accommodated

finishing locations other than our rickshaw stand may be subject to an additional drop-off fee (payable on the day of the tour)

Get off the rickshaw and walk to the most famous part of the bamboo forest which can not be accessed by rickshaw. The walk includes going up and down a steep slope.

It was my first time riding a rickshaw. I was able to spend a very comfortable time seeing the hidden sightseeing spots that I couldn't go to on my own.

I went 2 times this October, both of the person handling me was soooooo nice nice. They are all knowledgeable about the areas & can speak english very well. We really do joy their rickshaw.

Our rickshaw experience in Kyoto was absolutely amazing thanks to our guide, Yoppi! From the moment we met him, he was incredibly attentive, charismatic, and knowledgeable. He made us feel comfortable right away and shared so many fascinating stories and insights about Kyoto’s history, culture, and hidden gems along the way. The ride through the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest was simply magical — peaceful, beautiful, and even more special thanks to Yoppi’s enthusiasm and passion for his city. He also took wonderful photos for us and made sure we enjoyed every moment. If you’re visiting Kyoto, I highly recommend booking a rickshaw ride with Yoppi. He turns a simple sightseeing trip into a truly memorable and personal experience!

Great private spot through the Bamboo forest. Lucas was very knowledgeable and a safe rickshaw driver. Great photos were taken throughout the hour with stops included in the old town as well as the forest.

What an enjoyable experience. I’m so grateful to have done this experience with the Family. Takato and Yugo were lots of fun and we could not believe how fit these pair were. Super skilled and very attentive throughout the whole trip and gave us lots of insight into the area and its history.
