  The tour was amazing! Highly recommend to anyone coming to Japan that wants to be adventurous with food. You will be stuffed by the end so be ready. “Chica” was our tour guide and she was so sweet. She did a great job explaining all of the food and made great decisions with the foods.

  Had a great night in Kyoto with our host Chikako, she gave us a great insight into local food and culture. Really appreciated the follow-up communication with details of what we sampled. Fully recommend to anyone.

  This tour was excellent. Leandra was friendly and enthusiastic taking us to hidden spots we’d never find on our own. Every dish was delicious. Great mix of street food, local favorites, and cultural insights. Highly recommended — come hungry!

• Disappointing and not really a foodie tour

  Slightly disappointed with this tour as we were really looking forward to trying some yummy food. We felt that the tour was focused more on the alcohol than on the food and we are not big drinkers. The Sami tasting was good, but there small plates at each restaurant that we shared with all 7 of us on the tour, including the tour guides. We barely got one piece of everything that was served. Some dishes were delicious but others were far too Japanese authentic. Everyone in our group was from the US and it would have been nice to order us food that they know we would like rather than food they knew we would probably be grossed out by. I mentioned at the beginning of the tour that I was specifically not a fan of sashimi or of eel, yet several of the dishes included both things. We felt a little bit like we were paying for the tour guides to drink and eat and not so much for us to enjoy. Would have preferred that they ask us first before ordering for us which of the items we would prefer. Our tour guides were nice and provided us with a list at the end of the tour of recommended places and foods which was nice.
