It has been a unique experience. We loved it from minute one. Both the market tour with Xoshil, an excellent guide, to the cooking workshop with Maria and her family. The dishes that have taught us delicious, involving us, have been very friendly and great hosts and opening the doors of their home. We have learned a lot and I repeat, Xoshil has been great, attentive, friendly and recommending restaurants and places to visit in Antigua. Nice to meet you! We recommend 100 percent the experience.

Our tour with Rebecca was absolutely incredible! She was delightful, friendly, and so knowledgeable about Antigua and Guatemalan culture. We started with a coffee tasting where we sampled different flavors of locally grown coffee, each one better than the last! Then Rebecca took us to visit a local family who welcomed us into their home and taught us how to make traditional mole sauce with plantains. It was hands-on, authentic, and so much fun. Rebecca made the entire day special. She shared fascinating stories, answered all of our questions, and created such a warm, welcoming experience. It was the perfect way to immerse ourselves in Guatemalan culture. A good time was had by all, and I can’t recommend this tour enough!

We highly recommend this tour. We went with our guide Monica who was outstanding. We got to walk around the Market and also the town of Santa Ana as streets were closed to traffic due to festivities. Monica was very nice and knowledgeable. The cooking class was great! Both parents and kids enjoyed it and had a blast cooking, we learnt a lot and had fun with Maria and Guadalupe who hosted us. Food was delicious!!

I am so glad my friends recommended this class!!! I loved everything we cooked, Maria explained everything so well, and on top of those obvious desires in a cooking class, to feel so welcomed into Maria’s home and with her family was amazing. I would definitely do another class. Much love and bendiciones to Maria and her family. Our guide and translator, Oseas, was really fun too!!

We had the most wonderful time learning to cook Tamales, Pepian, and Plantains with mole! María, Diego, and Monica were beyond welcoming and supportive. They answered all our questions and made us feel right at home. It was such a special experience and gave us so much appreciation for the level of time, effort and love that goes into all the yummy dishes we consumed while on our visit to Guatemala. We haven't stopped talking about the Plantain Mole we ate and hope to make it soon. Thank you, Kukul!

Walking into her home, we were greeted with warm and welcoming smiles from Maria and her brother, Diego. She gave us aprons and began instructing us on how to make her family tradition Pepián and Molè. Oh my, the ingredients were full of color. The music playing brought a sense of being home cooking with family in the kitchen. And the best part was sitting together at the table after to enjoy our hard but fun work! The food was delicious but the experience of cooking and knowing the love and tradition that went into these dishes made it more hearty. I left with a smile on my face and a memory I will never forget. Muchas gracias Rebeca, Maria, y Diego for such a wonderful experience!

I HIGHLY recommend doing a cooking class with Kukul Tales. We have done cooking classes all over the world – we find that it is a wonderful way to have a cultural experience and meet people at the same time. Of course we love to eat great food too! (My husband doesn’t cook at home but he really has fun in cooking classes and he particularly embraces the EATING aspect😊.) We had a fantastic, authentic culinary experience with Maria, who did most of her cooking over a wood fire stove. But our experience was made truly wonderful by REBECA from Kukul Tales. She communicated promptly and clearly and acted as our translator for the lesson. It was important to us to have low carbohydrate food (for our health). So Rebeca liaised with us and Maria to curate the menu to suit our nutritional preferences – we made pepian and chile rellenos. Maria taught us some unique techniques that have been passed down from her Grandmother. Rebeca is a skilled communicator and had a lovely sense of fun – she really made our experience perfect. (Travelling in the tuk-tuk was fun too!) We felt very welcome and privileged to be in Maria’s little home kitchen. The food tasted great too! Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.

My brother and I had the best time learning to cook Pepian, Tamalitos, and Plantain Mole! Monica was an expert translator and teacher of the Guatemalan culture, while Maria and her brother were experts in the kitchen. We were involved in every step of the process and both dishes were so delicious. Thank you so much for the experience!!
