Samurai and Kyoto have always been associated throughout history. From the early Heian period to the collapse of the Tokugawa shogunate the samurai and ninja always roamed the streets of Kyoto. Now they are back! The samurai and ninja museum brings back the history and helps you to have a glimpse of these heroes’ glorious lives. What is more, you can have a hands on experience including wearing a real samurai armor, taking a katana lesson, doing a shuriken (ninja star) throw and using a ninja fukiya all in one place, all included in the tour.

3.00It was a nice tour, wish it was a bit longer and went more depth into the history of the samurais. Loved to see the armour and trying the costumes on and getting photos was lots of fun.

4.00Well organised and informative guided tour. Excellent contextual descriptions written and pictorial displayed across the three levels. Would recommend a visit if you are interested in Japanese history and in particular Samurai and Ninja history.

5.00Have a good time with the family. Especially the Ninja part with the inclusive experience. Perfect for rainy days in Tokyo where you can see authentic elements.
Excellent Samurai and Ninja experience which sheds light on these groups in a fun and educational way. Loved it.

5.00Fantastic place to learn about Samurai and Ninja lifestyles, weapons, allegiances, and role in Japanese culture. Fabulous armour displays, wonderful katana, and weapons display. Our guide Mami told wonderful stories of Musashi the Samurai and also of female Samurai.who had rheir own unique weapon. Fabulous for young and old. The Ninja star throwing was great.fun. Really informative, educational and above all fun for all ages.
