For generations, Te Puia has welcomed manuhiri (visitors) from all over the world to explore the magic hidden within Te Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley.
Our 90 minute guided tour will bring you face to face with the biggest, naturally active geyser in the Southern Hemisphere Pōhutu Geyser, and enjoy the up-close experience with the New Zealand Kiwi, in our brand-new Kiwi Conservation Centre. Be mesmerized by exploding mud pools all throughout the valley and gaze at beautifully crafted Māori-made artwork and sculptures visible throughout Te Puia.
Watch carvers and weavers demonstrate their skills at the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute, and hear our guides share stories passed down from their ancestors. Our wānanga (school) is a lighthouse for indigenous culture, worldwide. We are honoured to open the doors to our wānanga and show you the work of internationally recognised artists.

5.0Great trip around the geysers. We had an excellent guide who took us past the major things to see and then left us to wander at our own pace. Just an amazing landscape well worth seeing. We also added in the cultural show. Well worth doing if you’ve not seen one before.

5.0It was a lovely experience. The guide explained very nicely . But for the smell , we enjoyed a lot going around the place and watching the geysers.

3.0The Gysers viewing from near would have been memorable. We missed this sight because information by the guide was poor. Parking was not available and had to park far and walk to the place. No rest Roos allowed before the tour starts ?
