The tea ceremony is a spiritual journey. All of our tea masters have a Tea Name.(that means having a full professor qualification.)At the beginning of the experience, the host will take you into the tea room to admire the hanging scrolls and flower arrangements. Before performing an authentic tea ceremony, the host will explain a little about the steps involved in the ceremony, the utensils used and the importance of the rooms decoration and layout. Guests will enjoy a seasonal sweet with their matcha while watching the tea-serving process. The experience ends with each guest having the opportunity to make their own bowl of matcha, mastering the basics of tea making. You can enjoy two bowls of matcha and enjoy two kinds of sweets during our tea ceremony. We value our guests’ experience and feelings and we strive to provide memories our guests will treasure.

The location: far from everything, hard to find. Interior: small tatami room. Mood: not really heartwarming.

This was a great experience by the tea master! The setting was beautiful and we got to learn how to make our own tea!

We never realized the precision that entails a tea ceremony. It was very interesting. Sadly, we were unable to sit in the preferred position for the time allowed, but were made to feel comfortable and really enjoyed the ceremony.

Despite my having lived in Japan for three years in the 1960s, I learned more about the Japanese tea ceremony in the hour than I had after previously Kearny attending a couple of them during my time living in Japan. Also, my daughter-in-law was thrilled by the experience because she is an avid green tea and matcha drinker. She too came away with additional information about the topic which has enhanced her subsequent enjoyment of green tea in all its forms.

The location was a bit difficult to find and not near Gion. But the experience was informative and enjoyable. They were very accommodating to my husband, who can no longer sit on the floor and made him feel welcome and included. We enjoyed tasting and making matcha, although agreed we need more practice as ours didn’t taste as good as the tea master’s. The assistant spoke very quickly and it was somewhat difficult to understand her.
