Very interesting guide, and overall really informative experience. I wish I’d been able to also see the traditional dance offered at 12:30 PM each day there (but I arrived too late)

We had an amazing time visiting Whakarewarewa, and a special thank you goes to Daniel, our wonderful guide. He made the whole experience so enjoyable and educational. We learnt so much about Māori culture, traditions, and the fascinating way the geothermal features are used in everyday life. Daniel shared stories and insights with such warmth, humour, and passion — it really brought the village to life. We could tell how proud he is of his culture, and that made the tour even more special. The village itself is beautiful and unique, and being able to see, hear, and feel the living culture made this one of the highlights of our trip. We left feeling inspired and grateful for the opportunity to learn and connect. It is the legacy and home of the Tūhourangi Ngāti Wāhiao people, Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Rotorua!

What a wonderful experience! To learn about the history and culture of this Village was amazing. The tour was genuine and warm felt. The challenges of this village and their creativity and engineering they created to live on this land is inspiring. The time just flew by . Thank you for sharing your culture and your way of life.

We went on a trip with our guide Philip and gained a good appreciation of the history of the village and also into life for those still living there. As part of the trip you view the thermal pools and hot boxes that food is cooked in and also get to taste some corn that has been cooked in the thermal pool. It was delicious. You view the hot baths and church and end up overlooking the geysers. A really interesting insight into the way of life and history of the village.

Despite a cold and drizzly day we had an excellent trip thanks to our guide Daniel who was friendly informative and enthusiastic. He gave us a detailed account of the Maori culture and invited and answered questions regularly. The village tour was nice and crisp and he made it entertaining with his humour and constant interaction with every one. It helped that the group was a small one so he could keep things personal. All in all definitely a worthwhile experience

It was OK, expected more of culture and less of hot springs. The corn epwas a great touch. Guide was fine and very knowledgeable.

If you want a cultural experience, this is the place to go. The performance was almost magical, and the guided tour around the village was very informative. You can feel the pride that the local have of this village and I felt very honoured to have a look at it. Beware of the Sulfur smell though

My husband and I visited this site to get a better understanding of the Maori culture. Our guide, Daniel, was spectacular! Daniel is a descendant of village ancestors and shares his culture with knowledge, humor, and passion. We came to understand how Maori have leveraged the geothermal wonders of the area to survive and how the culture has perpetuated through history. We had already visited other thermal/geologic parks and this was a great way to understand the Maori connection. I highly recommend this stop if visiting Rotorura.
