  This is a true Māori experience. Our guide was a proud 5th generation Māori from this village and so knowledgeable about the history. And the geothermal action is astounding. But book earlier in the day so you have a chance to visit the Māori owned shops in the village. We booked later and the shops were all closed. Other than that, an excellent way to learn about the history and culture of this village.

  Guide grew up in the village, wealth of knowledge, great singer, powerful seeing that this is an active village/community. All in all great experience and great to learn and see the culture.

  Wonderful authentic village and very knowledgeable tour guide. We stayed for the performance which was excellent also .

  Great to learn about the life and history of the village and the people. To see how they used the natural hot springs to live their lives was very interesting.

  This was a very cool cultural experience! Seeing the geothermal pools and learning about the Māori people was very cool. We heard traditional singing and chants but could not see it. Apparently there are shows daily at 11,12,&1 but it might cost extra to see that. That is the only part I wish I could have added.
