We loved learning the traditions of the tea ceremony and added on the calligraphy experience, which we loved! Staff was very helpful and informative, the calligraphy was such a nice souvenir, and it was so fun to get dressed up in kimonos. We’d definitely do again!

A well-done experience worth doing while visiting. The calligraphy was a highlight, as was the ability to walk around the area and take pictures with the kimonos.

We were disappointed by this tea ceremony experience in Kyoto. What we had hoped would be a meaningful cultural experience turned out instead to be more of a staged demonstration. The event felt performative rather than participatory, offering little sense of connection or authenticity. Much of the experience was spent waiting — waiting to be dressed in kimonos, waiting for the ceremony to begin — and when it did start, the presentation lacked depth. The brief Q&A session at the end could have been an opportunity to learn more, but unfortunately the host was not well prepared to answer guests’ questions about the ceremony’s meaning and tradition. If your interest lies in being dressed in a kimono, having your hair styled, and taking photos, you may find this experience enjoyable. The kimono dressing staff were warm and attentive. However, if you are hoping to understand the cultural, aesthetic, and spiritual importance of the Japanese tea ceremony, this experience is unlikely to meet your expectations. Overall, we left feeling that it was not a rewarding or culturally enriching experience.

I had a lovely experience. When you arrive they check you in, take you to the changing room where you get to select your kimono, they then style your hair and let you pick the adornments; hair pin, hair flower, kimono sash (obi), kimono rope (obijime) and then you slide into your sandals. There is a small photo shoot where the staff snaps a few pix of you dressed up. They walk you through the "cleansing" process, you head upstairs and then you get to experience the ceremony. It felt very serene and she shared the history and traditional aspects of the tea ceremony. There was a guest in my group that was older and could not sit on the floor, but not to worry they brought her a small table and chair, so she was easily accommodated. I enjoyed the tea, pastry and vibes. If you're able to and have the time they allow you to wander around the small shops/area in your kimono. All in all I had a great experience and would recommend anyone to visit the wonderful women there. 10/10.

This was a truly incredible experience. It was amazing to immerse in the traditional Japanese culture through a tea ceremony and kimono dressing. The dressing process (for women) was an experience in itself, going through multiple stages of dressing, having hair styled etc. Highly recommend, a very authentic experience.

It was such a wonderful experience. The costumes were very traditional. Staff dressed us all efficiently and well. Whilst it was much busier than expected (and yes commercial) it was not a rushed or overly chaotic touristy experience.

Great experience lots of fun. A few people in the group wished they offered make up to enhance the experience.
