Kinkakuji Temple
This famous Zen temple is an icon of Samurai culture. You enter this venerated temple right after it opens in the morning, when few people visit. At this hour it is possible to get a good look at the gilded building and its beautiful appearance reflected in the pond and to take pictures at your own pace.

He told us all about the history of everything we were seeing and made lovely chit chat with all 4 of us (including the kids about Studio Ghibli films). He was a perfect host and also accommodated when we asked to switch the tour around a little. He was just wonderful and we thank him so much!

5.00We had the best time! Kazuo was very informative and we would have struggled to try and navigate all the public transport needed to go to the major sites. He was extremely personable and a joy to spend the morning with. He also gave us many local recommendations which we appreciated. Highly recommend booking!
