Discover the delicate wines of New Zealand’s North Island on this 3.5-hour wine tour from Auckland at Soljans Vineyard. Travel through the scenic Waimauku, Kumeu and Huapai regions with a guide and enjoy sweeping views over the pretty countryside. Stroll along the black sands at Muriwai and watch native gannets in the distance in rock outcrops- their natural habitat at Otakamiro Point. Then, visit another local winery and sample some of their Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, or Sauvignon Blanc.

Muriwai Beach
Next you’ll be taken through beautiful rolling sheep and cattle country out to Muriwai, a seaside enclave popular with surfers and famous for its black sand beaches. Here you can watch the Gannets August to May courting, mating and rearing their young preparing them for the winter migration. There are spectacular views of the Tasman Sea and rugged West Coast from the lookouts.
Soljans Estate Winery
Soljans Estate was established in 1937 and is owned and operated by the 5th generation of the same family. They produce Estate Chardonnay and Pinot Gris and well as Marlborough Riesling , Gewurtztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. They produce Syrah and Cabernet Blends from Hawkes Bay and Sparkling Muscat from Gisborne. The also have an enviable reputation for their Tawny Ports.

5.00We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon with John who is very knowledgeable about the areas we passed through and about the wineries in general. We were picked up from our hotel bang on time and we lucked out with pretty good weather on the day. Sampled some lovely wines along the way and we really appreciated the option to purchase a delicious platter or pizza at the second winery. On the drive back we stopped at some pretty stunning places to take in some breathtaking views and amazing scenery. A really enjoyable afternoon and I have no hesitation in recommending this tour.

5.00This tour was really fantastic. John was the perfect guide who was so warm and friendly and genuinely wanted us to have the best time. Unlike other wine tours, we actually learned so much, thanks to John’s passion and knowledge. The weather was a little unpredictable, but John managed to fit in scenic stops and toon some great photos. We will forever cherish our memories of Auckland and will drink the wine forever! Don’t hesitate to book this tour!
