An unforgettable excursion: ascent by Cable Car and 4x4 Bus up to 2850m (tickets not included, 45 € per person to be purchased at the meeting point). From here the route begins on foot, a fascinating stage will be that on some extinct craters, eruptive vents and lava fractures. It will continue to Barbagallo craters at 3000 meters. From here you can observe the majestic Summit Craters and admire recent lava flows (01-12-2023), until you reach the inside of a lava flow channel. You will visit the effusive vent of the 2002 eruption and from here you will descend along the sands to Montagnola from where you will observe the Valle del Bove, a great volcano-tectonic depression. Breathtaking panorama that arouses in visitors a feeling of arcane power that few other places in the world can convey. The return walk by cable car allows you to take a last look at this enchanting lunar landscape, for about 4 hours of total walking

We start from the hut of the Etna Sud Alpine Guides, continue by cable car up to 2500 meters and then with an off-road vehicle we reach 2850 metres.
Valle Del Bove
The first stop will be the viewpoint of the Valle del Bove, a large horseshoe-shaped volcano-tectonic depression located in the eastern sector of Etna, it is very important from a volcanological point of view as several outcrop along the walls. On fine days the view is breathtaking.

5.00We took the 3000m trekking and 4x4 excursion. Our guide was Giuseppe! For those wondering it is totally worth the price!! The guide gave us amazing information about the volcano and its past erruption. The views were breathtaking and made us feel like we were on a different planet. The day started sunny and clear it was beautiful and warm with the sun but on the way down it got cloudy and we were literally in the clouds ! Couldnt see 10 ft away from us it was incredible. We walked through lava tubes, found warm volcano fissures and had extremely strong winds when we got up to the craters edge! So strong i was able to stand at a 45 degree angle and it carried my weight through the air easily (im 225lbs big guy btw), the pace was perfect and the guide was fluent in 3 languages making it easy for everyone that booked. 10/10 would recommend!! Do yourself a favor and book this trip you wont regret it! -Nicolas from Montreal

5.00The views on top of Mt Etna are out of this world stunning. Our guide Pepe, was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about volcanoes. We took the gondola, then jeep and hiked the remaining way up to the top(3000 meters). We walked around the spines of the craters, through a lava channel and back down to the gondola. Although the tour says it’s a moderate activity, we would rate it strenuous. You should also not be weary of very close high altitudes. The spines are only 2 to 3 feet wide with drop offs on each side. We are all physically fit and agreed the hike requires strong endurance. Overall. Highly recommended.

5.00Here is the English translation: ⸻ We’re very glad we chose this tour to Etna. We were provided with suitable hiking boots, jackets, and backpacks. Our group’s guide was Clara. The tour was conducted in two languages – English and Italian. We were impressed not only by the views we saw, but also by Clara’s professionalism. It seemed she could precisely tell when it was time to take a break so that you could catch your breath (while listening to her stories about the volcano) before continuing the hike. We really appreciated the great responsibility and care with which Clara guided the whole group. A huge thank you to Clara and the entire team for the unforgettable experience!

5.00This was a great experience. We lucked out with the weather, cloud came in as we descended which made for an interesting experience. The tour ran well. They obviously knew what they were doing. Our guide was good value, good explanations though sometimes difficult to understand. Happy for any questions. Gear provided suited us. Glad we took the jacket and boots. The boots protected us a little from the explosive material and the jacket hood was essential as it did get VERY cold. The hike was a little strenuous for a couple of us initially with steepness. The descent in the soft material was cool. Taught to descend like in snow. It was rocky and steep and quite scary at times but WOW. Amazing landscape. Unique experience and so glad we did it. Arrive a bit earlier to get geared up. Don’t underestimate the weather!! Bring sticks if you need them. They really help

1.00Do not book this! The cable car is shut down from November 15th to December 10th. This tour is not as advertised! The closure of the cable car was not fully explained. We waited for a bus to take us up instead for 75 minutes. There was still a long wait with a big line ahead for a small bus that may have held 30 people at a time. We saw it come down once. Who knows how much longer we would have waited. Not to mention getting back down. The view from the cable car would have been spectacular. I expect I’d get motion sickness on the bus with the dust and fumes. There would have been minimal views. We left the line and got a refund. We had a stressful one hour drive to the site, plus the long wasted wait of an hour and a half and 8 euros for parking. Wasted a half a day of our trip.

2.00Long line to wait for the bus, as the cable car was broken (2 hours in the line). We were meant to be in language groups, but we were not. Was told it was going to be 3 hours guided tour (5k), but only just over 2 hours (2.3 miles) They should not have booked so many people on this tour, The tour guide was good and explained things well, with amazing views and a great hike. Also I was advised that my road running trainers would be ok for the hike, you need to wear walking shoes/ boots.

5.00Amazing views, friendly crew, a nice trekking experience walking on the grounds of Etna! 😍 We rode up with a cable car, you get tobsee the nice views underneath, then we rode one of the trucks that took us a bit up and started a trek upwards near lava stones and around craters. It's a moderate trek in high altitude so good fitness is required.

5.00A unique experience that I recommend to do. Lovely day, a bit of fatigue that is compensated by the joy you feel in being there in that enchanted landscape above all, a step from heaven... Giuseppe is a perfect guide and the tour is organized very well. Everything is made simple starting from the booking website, clear in every detail, starting from the presentation. Wonderful ENCHANTMENT!!

5.00although the wait was long before we started the tour, it was worth the wait. quick access to cablecar and quick access to 4x4 the group was divided according to "language" and there was a physical difference in the group (30 people), but our guide Clara managed it fine (+++) good English description throughout the tour
